FInally got a 918, a Porsche edition no less. Now I finally got the Hypercar big 3. Funny enough while the Ferrari is probably the priciest, the Porsche was the hardest to get. Bastards kept outbidding me.

It’s still surprising to me how expensive these are. I just did a quick search on Amazon and for the P1 alone people are asking over $50 (Canadian), with a few asking closer to $150. I see another seller selling a lot of six (one of which is a P1) for around $120 (which works out to $20/car).
Have Hot Wheels always been this expensive? I always figured that stores would carry tons of these and tell them for $10/car or less. I've never actually had to look for Hot Wheels so I really have no idea.

I picked up the P1 at a gas station in Kansas. If I'd known people were looking for it I would've gotten a few more!

Being a ‘murican I cant say much for the outright brutality of Canadian prices vs the brutality of US prices, but yeah, HW’s can get up there. THe Audi R8 HW from 2008 can get up to $70, and a Veyron at the least is $30. Though considering the P1 is still being produced unlike the LaFerrari/918, over $50 anywhere is just wasting your time.

You check with the people of LaLD if anyone would be willing to trade with you. We trade stuff all the time and it’s certainly cheaper than eBay. I’ve got two P1's in my trade pile

I never thought to group these hyper cars together. I have a 918 in red. It would match the other two better. And I also have a red koenigsegg.

amazon individual car prices are insane...cant really go by that. there are plenty of P1s on american and canadian eBay for around 5 bucks (or under). I also still find them on pegs occasionally, so they’re still out there in less traffic-ed stores.

Agreed. The P1 shown above is $5 w/shipping right now on Ebay. The 918 is $9. I just started ‘collecting’ 1:43 models, and the prices are similarly all over the place. I’m primarily a Porsche guy, but also want to get the ‘trifecta’ of the BMW M1, Ferrari 288 GTO, and Porsche 959.

You really can’t honestly expect Amazon.ca prices to be average. Usually, for Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Greenlight, etc. are usually about 7 times more expensive than general retail prices.

eBay sellers are really, really stupid. I’ve been tracking the auction prices of a specific old casting for a few months. Auctions are averaging around $20 (USD) shipped but people still list cars with $30, $40 and $50 Buy It Now options.
I don’t know if they’re just trying to hook a sucker or if they don’t really want to sell. I’ve explained this to people who allow Best Offers and they still come back with a $30 counter. They’re scalpers.

Nice! I’m hoping to do the same with Kyoshos. I have a P1 coming, so I just need a LaFerrari and 918. Those are a bit expensive at the moment, but it’ll happen some day.
